How time flies. Though it seems brand new, the
Levitt Pavilion in Arlington will enter its fifth season of free concerts this
spring, aided in no small part by sponsorships, grants and growing community
support.
Examples: Texas Power has again signed on as the
title sponsor for the 2013 concert season, making this their third season to
bring free music under the stars to the Arlington community! And the Levitt also
received a $40,000 Arlington Cultural Tourism Bureau grant for the second year
for the 2013 concert season.
The Levitt Pavilion is a nonprofit organization
and not funded by the City of
Arlington. The Levitt organization produces at
least 50 free concerts each year, relying on
sponsors,
like Texas Power, grants, memberships and donations to cover the expenses
of presenting a diverse array of professional
musical artists. The pavilion has
one concert each year that requires a ticket
purchase, and that concert also helps
raise funds for the free concerts.
"We are excited to partner with the Levitt
for a third consecutive year. We believe
in Arlington, and we believe in what the Levitt
brings to Arlington," said David
Chase,
Texas Power vice president. "Personally, my kids love the atmosphere, and
it's been fun for me to hear songs I grew up
listening to on the record player.
It's memories in the making every time my family
goes to the Levitt."
"Texas Power helps make it possible to
bring free concerts to the public," said
Patti Diou, the Levitt Pavilion's executive
director.
As to the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council, it
was created early in 2012 by Experience
Arlington (formerly the Arlington Convention and
Visitors Bureau) to support and grow cultural tourism. The council distributes
annual grants to arts and cultural organizations and artists through a
competitive grant allocation process that encourages promoting, improving and
applying the city's arts to promote tourism.
A total of $100,000 is awarded each year. Arts
organizations and artists must apply.
A select group is then invited to make a
presentation to the council, who then
Determine the grant recipients and amounts.

Firefall returns to the Levitt for the July 3
Light Up Arlington! concert
Temperatures are on the chilly side now, but it
will be summer before we know it!
The Levitt has two big changes to its concert

The first change is a longer summer concert

be May 24 through July 14. Concerts will be on
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
and Sunday nights. The Levitt will participate
in the annual Light Up Arlington!
celebration with Firefall on July 3, but will
take July 4 off and return with a
concert
on July 5. All of the summer concerts after July 3 will begin later in
the evening at 9 p.m. Children's concerts will
again be on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.
and 7:30 p.m.
The second change is in the fall concert series,
which will be Aug. 30 through Sept.
29. Concerts during the fall will be on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday nights. No Thursday
night concerts in the fall series.
The 2013 Texas Power Summer Concert Series kicks
off again this year with the three-day

Festival. The final line-up is being confirmed
and will be announced soon. Meanwhile, you can
get sneak peeks about who's coming
this year through Facebook posts and tweets on Twitter. Links to

Levitt
launching new website this spring!
“In addition to booking bands, securing sponsors
and writing grants, we are busy
at the Levitt offices right now with an exciting
new website makeover for our fifth
anniversary season!,” Diouy said. “We'll keep
you updated, but the plan is to launch the new site
in March. The new website will include awesome
new features, like a photo gallery,
streaming music, and share functions that will
let you share concert info with your
friends and family on Facebook and Twitter.
We'll have a great new look that is
easy to navigate on your computer and your
mobile phone. Stay tuned!”
